Le Wand Hoop Review: Is This Stainless Steel Dildo Worth Buying?

A few years ago, someone asked me about the njoy Pure Wand, an 8-inch stainless steel dildo that has long been a favorite among sex toy reviewers across the spectrum. I’ve always been curious about it, but between the price and, sadly, the availability from retailers we’ve partnered with, I just never got around to grabbing one.

Just recently, we were contacted by our friends at Le Wand, and they asked if I’d be interested in testing a few items, including something from their Steel Line.

I’ve never said yes faster.

Le Wand has, as part of its Steel Line, the Le Wand Hoop. Hoop is a 10.3-inch marvel that weighs 1.39 pounds, or approximately 630 grams. In other words, Hoop has some serious heft, and when you first hold it in your hands, it’s perfectly reasonable to wonder what the hell you’re getting yourself into.

The toy is made from medical-grade 316 stainless steel and contains molybdenum, which improves its resistance to salt and chemicals. I struggle to call Hoop a toy, though I’m well aware of the fact that I use it to play with myself. Hoop is a tool. It’s a tool that isn’t in your hand to fuck around with; it’s in your hand to get to work. And dear reader, this toy goes to work in a hurry.

First Impressions: This Thing Has Some Serious Weight

There is something immediately impressive about holding a stainless steel pleasure toy for the first time. Most of the toys in our collection are silicone, and even the larger ones tend to feel relatively lightweight. Hoop is an entirely different experience.

At 1.39 pounds, this isn’t something you casually pick up and forget you’re holding. You notice the weight immediately. It’s substantial, solid, and has a luxurious quality that makes it feel like something a little more special than your average bedroom accessory.

That weight is also part of the experience. It gives Hoop a sense of presence that you don’t necessarily get with a lightweight silicone dildo. When you’re moving it, you can feel the difference. When you’re rocking it, you can feel the difference. And when you’re simply holding it against your body, there’s a satisfying amount of pressure without having to apply quite as much effort yourself.

Of course, weight is something worth considering before purchasing. If you prefer lightweight toys or have difficulty maintaining a grip on heavier objects, Hoop might take some getting used to. It’s not necessarily a toy I’d recommend for someone who wants something featherlight and effortless to maneuver.

But if you appreciate a substantial, beautifully finished piece of stainless steel, that weight is part of its appeal.

And there’s another thing worth mentioning: stainless steel isn’t silicone. The material has a completely different personality. It’s firm, smooth, cool to the touch, and doesn’t have the flexibility or give that many silicone toys offer. That firmness means you get a very direct sensation, and the smooth surface makes it easy to glide when you’ve got enough lube involved.

There’s no motor, no vibration setting, no charging cable, and no collection of buttons to figure out. Hoop relies entirely on its shape, material, weight, and the person using it.

Sometimes simple really is wonderful.

Getting Comfortable With Hoop: A Little Preparation Goes a Long Way

Before we get to the fun part, a little confession.

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about putting a cold metal toy against my vulva. I love experimenting, but I also know that comfort matters, particularly when we’re talking about such a sensitive area.

So, before taking Hoop out for its first go, I placed it between my folded heating pad. Nothing too crazy; I wasn’t looking to brand myself or anything like that. I simply wanted the toy to be a little more comfortable as it made contact with my body.

This is one of the interesting things about stainless steel toys: temperature can become part of the experience.

Unlike silicone, stainless steel can be warmed or cooled before use. That opens up another avenue of play, whether you enjoy the feeling of a gently warmed toy or prefer experimenting with a cooler sensation. Personally, I was much more interested in getting comfortable with Hoop before introducing anything particularly adventurous.

A word of caution here: always check the temperature against a less sensitive area of your body before using a heated or chilled metal toy. Stainless steel can retain temperature, and something that feels pleasantly warm in your hands might be uncomfortably hot against delicate skin. Gentle warming is the goal, not extreme temperatures.

I also made sure to have some lube handy.

For the first time in quite a while, I reached for my Uberlube. Most of our toys have silicone features, so I’m typically someone who favors water-based lube. With Hoop, however, a silicone-based lube was perfectly compatible with the stainless steel surface.

And I loved it.

The combination of that incredibly smooth metal and a little Uberlube made for a lovely introduction. There was no tugging or uncomfortable friction, just a wonderfully slick surface that glided easily against my skin.

If you’re accustomed to silicone toys, this is another difference worth appreciating. Stainless steel is nonporous and has a very smooth surface, making it easy to clean and compatible with a wide range of personal lubricants. You don’t have to worry about the material absorbing lube or moisture.

My advice? Don’t skimp on the lube. A little preparation can make a significant difference, particularly when you’re exploring a new material.

Putting the Le Wand Hoop to Work

I started by getting a feel for Hoop on the outside of my body. I rubbed it up and down, pressed just a little against my clit, and allowed myself to become familiar with the sensations.

It was so lovely.

My excitement for this toy, combined with the added dab of lube, had me ready for the experience. After enjoying that attention to my clit, I decided it was time to explore what Hoop could do internally.

And it felt so, so good.

I moaned when I first slid it inside. Not a little appreciative sigh, either. An actual audible moan, delivered with enough enthusiasm that my husband groaned as he sat there watching.

The gentle curve of Hoop makes lying on your back while enjoying yourself incredibly easy. Rather than having to fight against an awkward angle or constantly reposition the toy, I found that its shape made it relatively comfortable to maneuver.

That curve is important because it gives you something different from a straight, traditional dildo. You can experiment with the angle of insertion, rock the toy, and apply pressure in different directions. Depending on your anatomy and preferences, those small adjustments can make a substantial difference.

During my first experience, I simply explored. I rocked the toy, slid it in and out, and experimented with lifting it toward my pelvis. All of it felt amazing.

The firmness of stainless steel gives you a very direct sensation. There’s no squish, no flexibility, and no cushioning between the toy and your body. What you feel is what you get.

For someone who enjoys firm pressure and a little more control over where that pressure is applied, this can be a wonderful thing.

The heft of Hoop also gives you the impression that you’re using something from another level. It just has a luxurious feel, and I found myself appreciating that as much as the physical sensations.

I could have easily gotten myself off alone, but I decided to invite my husband to have a go with Hoop.

That turned out to be an excellent decision.

It was his rocking, his thrusting, and his excitement for what I was experiencing that made me so wet that he audibly gasped as I came.

“Holy shit, that’s a lot,” is all I heard as I tightened around Hoop, my legs shaking.

As my orgasm wrapped up and he gently slid Hoop from my body, I looked up and saw that it was glistening. He ran a finger up the toy, collected what was there, and licked it with a grin.

I just giggled. There was nothing else I could do at that moment.

And honestly, isn’t that part of the fun? Sometimes the best experiences aren’t just about the toy itself. They’re about sharing something new, enjoying one another’s reactions, and discovering that a product you were excited to try actually delivers.

Hoop gave us plenty to smile about.

Round Two: Blended Orgasms and More Ways to Play

I asked for a small break before diving in for round two. This time, I wanted to experiment with a blended orgasm using one of my pinpoints on my clit.

I have to say that while I was able to position and maneuver Hoop on my own with one hand and the pinpoint with the other, I found having my husband take control of Hoop while I focused more on teasing my clit to be much easier and more comfortable.

And the orgasm I had was just as copious.

In fact, I definitely squirted, much to his enjoyment.

One of the things I appreciate about Hoop is that it doesn’t need to be the star of every experience. It works beautifully alongside other toys, and its firm, smooth surface makes it an interesting addition to a blended orgasm.

If you’re someone who enjoys combining internal stimulation with external clitoral stimulation, Hoop gives you another option to experiment with. You can let a partner handle the positioning and movement of the stainless steel toy while you concentrate on your clit, or you can take control yourself and find the rhythm that works best.

For us, having my husband involved made things easier. The weight of Hoop means that positioning and holding it comfortably can require a little more attention than with a lightweight toy. Having an extra set of hands certainly doesn’t hurt!

But that wasn’t the end of my experimenting.

The smaller end of Hoop also made for a fabulous addition to a blended anal and clitoral experience. On my own, I lubed up and used the smaller end to gently rub and tease my ass before carefully exploring a little insertion. That sensation, combined with the familiar buzz of a toy against my clit, was delightful.

It gave me another way to enjoy Hoop, and the combination produced an orgasm in a very short amount of time.

Of course, when experimenting with anal play, adequate lube, gentle movement, and appropriate control are essential. Make sure the toy’s design provides a secure external stop before attempting anal insertion, and never use an object that could become fully inserted or difficult to retrieve. Start slowly and don’t force anything.

Round two was just as much fun as round one, and I can see myself having many more of these types of blended orgasms in the future.

What I particularly enjoy is that Hoop doesn’t feel like a one-trick pony. I went into this experience thinking primarily about vaginal penetration, but I found myself discovering other ways to incorporate it into our play.

That’s a pretty good start for a new addition to the collection.

Stainless Steel Toys: Why Consider One?

If you’ve never owned a stainless steel sex toy, you might be wondering what makes them worth considering, especially when there are so many silicone options available at considerably lower prices.

It’s a fair question.

Silicone is a wonderful material for sex toys. It’s body-friendly, flexible, available in countless shapes and textures, and generally easy to care for. We have plenty of silicone toys in our collection, and I certainly don’t see that changing.

But stainless steel offers something different.

First, there’s the firmness. Silicone has some flexibility, and depending on the product, it can compress or give slightly under pressure. Stainless steel doesn’t. If you enjoy a firm toy that maintains its shape and delivers consistent pressure, metal can be an excellent option.

Second, there’s the smoothness. Hoop has a beautifully slick surface when paired with lube. There’s no texture to distract from the sensation, and the material makes it easy to glide against the body.

Third, there’s temperature play. Stainless steel can be warmed or cooled before use, creating another dimension to your experience. This is something that makes metal toys particularly interesting for couples who enjoy experimenting with different sensations.

And finally, there’s durability. A properly cared-for stainless steel toy isn’t something you should expect to replace every couple of years. It’s a substantial investment, but one that can provide years of enjoyment.

The nonporous construction is another significant advantage. Stainless steel doesn’t absorb bodily fluids, and its smooth surface makes thorough cleaning straightforward.

For anyone who has been curious about exploring metal toys, Hoop is an interesting introduction.

Cleaning and Caring for Your Le Wand Hoop

Fortunately, looking after Hoop is considerably less complicated than deciding what to do with it in the bedroom.

Before our first experience, I washed mine thoroughly in hot water and used a gentle, unscented soap. Some people boil their stainless steel toys, but I opted for a good wash with hot water and soap.

The great thing about Hoop, and other toys in the Steel Line, is that stainless steel is nonporous. That means bodily fluids and moisture aren’t absorbed into the material in the way they can be with porous materials.

I’ve also used a toy cleaner that we had handy, but this isn’t something I consider necessary after every use when a thorough wash with soap and water will do the job.

A few simple habits are worth following:

  • Wash Hoop before and after use.
  • Use warm water and a gentle, unscented soap.
  • Rinse thoroughly so no soap residue remains.
  • Dry it completely with a clean, soft towel.
  • Store it somewhere clean and protected from scratches or contact with other hard objects.

Because stainless steel is such a durable material, you don’t have to worry about the same kinds of material degradation that can affect some softer toys. That doesn’t mean you should throw it into a drawer with everything else, though. A little care will help preserve that beautiful finish.

And if you’re sharing Hoop with a partner, or incorporating it into different kinds of play, cleaning between uses is especially important.

It’s one of those products that makes maintenance feel refreshingly simple. No complicated charging routines, no removable sleeves, and no special cleaning requirements.

Just wash, dry, and put it away until you’re ready for another round.

The Pros and Cons of the Le Wand Hoop

No review would be complete without looking at what I love and what potential buyers should consider before spending their money.

What I love:

  • The stainless steel construction: Medical-grade 316 stainless steel offers a smooth, nonporous, durable surface.
  • The weight: At 1.39 pounds, Hoop feels substantial and luxurious. That heft is a big part of its appeal.
  • The gentle curve: I found the shape comfortable to maneuver, particularly when lying on my back.
  • Temperature play: The ability to gently warm or cool the toy adds another dimension to the experience.
  • Lube compatibility: The stainless steel surface works with both water-based and silicone-based lubes.
  • Versatility: I enjoyed using Hoop for vaginal stimulation, external exploration, and blended orgasms with other toys.
  • Easy maintenance: Cleaning is straightforward, and there’s no motor or electronics to maintain.

Things to consider:

  • The weight isn’t for everyone: At 630 grams, Hoop is considerably heavier than many traditional silicone dildos. If you prefer lightweight toys, this could be a drawback.
  • It’s very firm: There’s no flexibility or give. If you prefer softer materials, stainless steel might not be your first choice.
  • You’ll need lube: While the smooth surface is wonderful, I wouldn’t recommend approaching this toy without having some lube available.
  • There’s no vibration: Hoop is entirely manual. If you’re looking for a vibrating toy with multiple settings, this isn’t it.
  • The price: Stainless steel toys are an investment. While Hoop is competitively priced against some comparable products, it’s still more expensive than many basic silicone options.

For me, those considerations are relatively minor. The weight and firmness are actually two of the things I enjoy most about Hoop. But they’re worth understanding before making a purchase.

Le Wand Hoop vs. the njoy Pure Wand: Is It Worth Considering?

I think it’s worth coming back to where this whole adventure started.

For years, I’d been curious about the njoy Pure Wand. It’s one of those stainless steel toys that seems to appear on nearly every list of recommended metal toys, and it’s easy to understand why it has developed such a following.

When Le Wand approached us about testing something from its Steel Line, Hoop immediately caught my attention.

At 10.3 inches, Hoop offers a substantial presence, and its 1.39-pound weight gives it a very different feel from the lightweight silicone products that dominate much of our collection.

The appeal of both products is that they bring something different to the bedroom. Stainless steel offers a firmness, smoothness, and temperature versatility that you simply don’t get from most silicone toys.

I wouldn’t suggest that everyone needs a stainless steel toy, or that one is automatically better than the other. Personal preferences matter enormously when it comes to pleasure.

But I do think Hoop deserves a place in the conversation, particularly for anyone who has been interested in the Pure Wand but has been hesitant about the price.

Le Wand has managed to offer a compelling alternative at a lower price point, and that’s something worth considering.

Is the Le Wand Hoop Worth Buying?

For me, the answer is an enthusiastic yes.

I’m a huge fan of Hoop, and I genuinely hope to have the opportunity to test some of the other products in Le Wand’s Steel Line.

What surprised me most wasn’t simply how much I enjoyed the sensation of stainless steel. It was how quickly Hoop became something I wanted to reach for again.

I’ve tried plenty of toys over the years. Some are fun for a particular occasion, some become regular additions to the collection, and a few surprise you enough that you find yourself wondering why you waited so long to try them.

Hoop falls into that last category.

I particularly enjoyed the combination of its gentle curve, substantial weight, and wonderfully smooth surface. It delivered an experience that felt different from our usual silicone toys, and I loved finding ways to incorporate it into our partnered play.

I also think it’s a particularly interesting option for couples. Having my husband take control of Hoop while I concentrated on clitoral stimulation made for some memorable experiences. It’s not a complicated toy to introduce into partnered play, and its distinctive shape gives you plenty of opportunities to experiment together.

Would I recommend it to someone buying their very first insertable toy? Possibly, but with a little consideration. The weight and firmness might be more than a beginner expects, and someone who prefers softer, more forgiving materials might be happier starting elsewhere.

But for someone who already enjoys insertable toys, appreciates firm stimulation, or has been curious about stainless steel, Hoop is absolutely worth a look.

And then there’s the price.

Le Wand Hoop is currently available for $116 directly from Le Wand. Considering the construction, material, and overall experience, I think that’s a compelling price for a stainless steel toy of this kind.

I went into this review curious about a product that had been on my radar for years. I came away with a new favorite and a much greater appreciation for what a beautifully designed stainless steel toy can bring to the bedroom.

Le Wand has something special on its hands with Hoop.

And if the rest of the Steel Line is anywhere near as enjoyable, I suspect I’ll be making another request to our friends at Le Wand before too long.

Sometimes the best bedroom additions aren’t the ones with the most buttons, the loudest motors, or the longest feature lists. Sometimes they’re beautifully made, wonderfully heavy pieces of metal that simply get the job done.

And Hoop?

Oh, it gets the job done.
